Can I ignore complete folders?
Can I ignore complete folders?
Solution
Applies to: Nomadesk for Windows & Mac OS X
Answer:
Yes, it is possible to ignore complete folders. The feature “Ignore Files” also support ignoring folders.
Background:
In addition to ignoring files, it might sometimes be handy to ignore a complete folder (e.g. a folder with temporary files which you do not want to synchronize or backup). This can be done by using a pattern with the special “asterisk” character (*) This is a standard wildcard for selecting files, and can be used in Nomadesk to ignore certain file types and also folders.
For instance if you would like to ignore Word files (with extension .docx) you would enter *.docx ignore field.
Solution:
To add the ignore pattern for a folder, do the following:
- open the Nomadesk Dashboard
- click the Fileserver menu button next to your Fileserver
- choose Ignore Files > Manage
- enter the path of the folder in Ignore field in the following format:
For mac: path/to/folder/*
For windows: path\to\folder\*
